Whether it's learning how to speak a different language, using a computer, driving a car or playing an instrument, we're bound to make mistakes and learn from them. We gradually get better and better. Often, one may become confident when facing increasing challenges, you get lightheaded.
But this is the first time I've witnessed that someone has learned the equivalent of 15 minutes of random clicking on Photoshop and then goes to apply sub-par effects in horrendous fashion to Myspace-quality pictures, then call whoever is in the picture a "sinister" sexy model, then sell the so-called "artwork" online!
That's the case with one of the many *Sexy Models* that the user sinister_art employs, whose amazing artwork and modeling pictures can be found for sale at eBay.
Chris' (as it would imply in his only blog post) concept of artwork mainly consists of painting plain white over the eyes (regardless if it looks good or not), adding jagged black lines around them, adding random wiggles of red, to resemble blood, and for some odd reason, throw the ugliest pattern he can find that day all over the picture, even if it's irrelevant to the effect being attempted.
MY ARTWORK IS NOWHERE NEAR "TRADITIONAL"....IT IS VERY ABSTRACT BUT IF YOU LIKE A VERY HOT MODEL TURNED ZOMBIED AND EVIL (BUT STILL SEXY) THEN THIS STYLE IS FOR YOU! IF YOU LIKE "CONTEMPORARY" ART, THEN PLEASE GO SEARCH FOR ART OF MOUNTAINS OR BUTTERFLIES BECAUSE THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM SINISTER ART!!!!
I don't think it's possible to get off a horse *that* high without breaking some bones. I do love how he thinks butterflies cannot be sinister, I think a monarch butterfly packs far more sinister intent than his whole being. The following was taken from the description of one of his old items:
ORIGINAL IMAGE OF CHRISTIE LOVE WAS GIVEN TO ME BY HER TO WORK ON STARTING NOV. 20TH,2008 AND FINISHED NOV. 23RD,2008.
THREE WHOLES DAYS. There you have it, real art is done at the blink of an eye, but it takes a while to do 4 steps in Photoshop. I'm going to take the same amount of time for the same amount of steps, so I can later on auction it and say it took me 15 years to finish it.
He has apparently closed his eBay account and quit the whole "sell my shitty photoshop edits" business. Normally this would sadden me, but it's best if future buyers kept their eyes intact. One can only speculate how much damage an amplified picture full of so much SUCK can cause.
It took a small amount of amateurish "research" to find other profiles of his:
http://www.myspace.com/sinister_art - "..ART DOESNT HAVE TO BE PRETTY!.."
Clearly, misguided as he may be, it's true. Art doesn't have to be pretty, but I'm afraid it doesn't have to be total shit either.
I can only wait until he accepts my MySpace request so I can explore his
UPDATE: Febrary 21
Found another of Chris' amazing Photoshop edits, and Ryan's comment, y'know a sane person's, of "I could do better" seemed more like a threat than constructive criticism. So he told him to do it, instead of just saying it. Well, compare Chris' Sinister Sexy Dead Zombie Model to AmyWho's ...
